I'm not a huge bernier fan, but the price was right. 2nd and 3rd round picks are very expendable when you're getting a young player back (especially with our scouting).

And when you're drafting is as poor as the Canucks drafting has been. Might as well trade those picks and actually get SOMETHING.

What a dumb question. Filppula has really matured in the past two years under DRW coaching and he scored some key goals for them in the PO and has adapted to the passing game of DRW very well - many would like to see him continue there - besides why would he want to leave DRW for a worthless organization like Vancouver Canucks ?

I hope the Canucks don't sign him to an offersheet. To get him they will have to overpay, which would mean the loss of our first round pick.
Edit: seems like I won't have to worry, he filed for arbitration today.
